Marius obtained his B.Proc degree from the University of Pretoria in 1986 and completed his LL.B degree during 1992. He achieved the award for the best student in Public Law. Marius was admitted as an attorney in 1990 and also has the right to appear in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. He served his articles in 1987 until 1988 whereafter he joined the Department of Justice as a public prosecutor in the Johannesburg courts. After leaving the Department of Justice he joined CH Coetzee Attorneys in Giyani during 1992 whereafter he established MVB Attorneys in 1993 (previously known as M. van Huyssteen Attorneys). 

As the director with 35 years’ experience, he gained his experience in Criminal Law, practising as a defence attorney for individuals and companies, more particular in fraud and commercial fraud matters. The firm became well-known after he successfully handled several high profile criminal cases (local and international). 

He also specialises in Corporate and Commercial Law including International Trade Law with international experience, High Court Litigation, Family Law, Constitutional Court and Tax Law (Customs & Excise). His ability to resolve or settle disputes is invaluable in negotiating key elements related to his cases. 

Elria obtained her LL.B degree from the University of Pretoria during 2000 and also obtained an Aipsa Diploma in Insolvency Law & Practice in 2002. She served her articles at MVB attorneys during 2001-2003 and was admitted as an attorney on 2 September 2003. 

As a co-director with 19 years’ experience, she specialises in Immigration Law and High Court Litigation, Administrative Law, review applications and appeals. She also assists various companies and individuals from the UK, Germany, Hungary, USA, China and Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. 

Elria handled various High Court cases and represented a high profile client at the Zondo Commission. 

Jolanda obtained her LL.B degree from the University of Pretoria during 2010 and served her articles at Burden Swart and Botha Attorneys whereafter she was admitted as an attorney during 2012. She is also a Notary Public and Conveyancer. 

As a co-director Jolanda specialises in Litigation, Insolvency Law, Corporate and Commercial Law, Conveyancing, Nuptial services and Family Law. 

She also spearheads the Conveyancing Department– specialising in all property related services including: 

• transferring of corporate and individual and development stands,
• registration of individual and commercial bonds on behalf of banking institutions and due diligence
  investigations.
• drafting of sale of shares agreements for property building companies,
• drafting of sale agreements for private and commercial properties,
• drafting of building contracts,
• township developments; and
• registration of notarial bonds notarial agreements such as anti-nuptial contracts. 

Rachelle obtained her LL.B during 2002 from the University of the Free State as well as her LL.M degree in Mercantile Law during 2004. She served her articles at Webbers Attorneys and was admitted as an attorney during 2004. She is also a qualified Notary Public and Conveyancer. 

Previously an Investec Bank employee for 9 years, she gained experience in Commercial banking and Commercial Law. She also successfully completed the programme for the Commercial Property Practitioner. 

Rachelle joined the MVB team in 2014 and specialises in the drafting of sale of shares agreement for property building companies, sale agreements for private and commercial properties, building contracts, township developments, registration of development stands, and registration of notarial bonds and notarial agreements such as anti-nuptial agreements. She also deals with Competition Law related matters and has obtained Competition Commission merger approval certificates for various shopping centres. 

Anton obtained his BSc degree in Zoology in 2015 and later his LL.B degree in 2018 from the University of Pretoria. He served his articles at MVB Attorneys and was admitted as an attorney in April 2021. Anton now practices as an attorney who specialises in Litigation, Commercial Law, Family Law, Estates, Trusts and Criminal Law and is in the process of completing his LL.M degree in Environmental Law. 

Sam is an admitted attorney who assists the firm in public related matters and marketing. He builds and maintains the positive image of the firm by undertaking relevant market research and liaising with personnel. 

Micaela obtained her LL.B degree from the University of Pretoria during 2021 and currently serves her articles. She is in the process of completing her LL.M degree (Mercantile Law). Her interests lie in Conveyancing, Commercial and Mercantile Law. 

Lisa obtained her LL.B degree during 2022 from the University of South Africa. Whilst studying she joined Z. Smit Attorneys as a candidate attorney and then joined our team in July 2022 as a Candidate Attorney. Her interests lie in RAF, Litigation and Administrative Law. 

Ronel obtained her National Diploma in Business Administration during 1995 from the TUT and joined MVB Attorneys in 1993 when the firm was established. She oversees general office operations and is responsible for the firm’s regulatory compliance obligations as well as the personnel, office policies and admin systems.

Ronel is also responsible for managing the full financial operations of the firm and has many years of experience in the legal field of criminal, litigation, commercial and conveyancing. She also provides administrative assistance to the company’s professionals.
